Ukrzaliznytsia, a state-owned railway company, is expanding its production capabilities to include various types of rolling stock, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Ukrzaliznytsia is constructing grain hopper cars and fitting platforms

This was announced by the Deputy Director for Production of the Wagon Repair Direction of the Production Department of Ukrzaliznytsia, Daniil Glushchenko, at the international conference “Railways of Ukraine: Development and Investments” on February 20.

EP Cargo has announced the appointment of a new manager for its Agri team

As the official noted, previously Ukrzaliznytsia only built semi-wagons at its own facilities. Now there is an oversupply of such wagons, so Ukrzaliznytsia has begun to build other types of rolling stock.

“During the full-scale invasion period, Ukrzaliznytsia built 500 fitting platforms. For the first time in the modern history of Ukrzaliznytsia, we have built dump cars and track repair dosers at our own production facilities. In addition, we have built and certified a grain hopper car that can be used on both 1520 mm and 1435 mm railway tracks,” said Daniil Glushchenko.

Ukrzaliznytsia also has an order from the World Bank to build 40-foot fitting platforms, which are planned to be manufactured in the first half of this year.

At the same time, specialists from the Center for Transport Logistics branch are currently undergoing the coordination process within the relevant structural units of Ukrzaliznytsia for an order of 120 European-style grain hopper cars.

Currently, they are developing another innovation – a universal covered wagon that can be used both as a covered wagon and as a grain hopper. Calculations for strength and body volume are currently underway. The construction of a trial batch is planned by the end of the year.

As reported earlier, last year Ukrzaliznytsia built 528 freight wagons.
