Ukrzaliznytsia “unlocked” wagons with extended service life, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Ukrzaliznytsia

It is noted that the process began after the publication of changes in the order of the Ministry of Community Development, Territories, and Infrastructure No. 647 “On approval of the Procedure for conducting a complex of diagnostic, repair, and registration operations aimed at extending the service life of freight cars.”

Siemens Mobility has completed major overhaul of the first Vectron locomotives for PKP Cargo

According to Rail.insider, Ukrzaliznytsia has now analyzed the fleet of freight cars of all forms of ownership, which have undergone various types of repairs with an extension of the service life until the entry into force of Order No. 647 (end of January 2022).

After the aforementioned analysis, the Carrier identified wagons whose maximum service life set by Order No. 647 is less than or equal to the date of extension of the wagons’ service life and adjusted the maximum service life of the rolling stock accordingly, in accordance with the extension date specified in the technical solution.

It is worth noting that changes to the order of the Ministry of Community Development, Territories, and Infrastructure No. 647 regarding the further use of wagons with extended service life were published on the website of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine the day before.

The document establishes that “the deadlines for extending the service life of freight cars specified in the technical solutions for extending the service life of freight cars issued by specialized organizations based on the results of a complex of diagnostic operations of freight cars until the entry into force of this order remain in force.”

It is worth recalling that earlier Ukrzaliznytsia stopped such wagons. Several companies tried to overturn such a decision through the courts.
