The management of UZ is considering the possibility of creating a company on the basis of PJSC “Kyiv-Dneprovsk interbranch enterprise of industrial railway transport” (MPPZT), which will provide shunting traction services throughout Ukraine. It is reported by Railway Supply magazine with reference to Rail.insider.

shunting operator

“The management of the freight vertical of Ukrzaliznytsia has very ambitious plans to reform the structure of the vertical. Measures are being developed to identify individual operators by type of activity. Thus, the plans include the creation of a separate container carrier on the basis of the Liski branch, the creation of a terminal operator (based on existing transshipment complexes and warehouses at stations); creation of a separate port operator (on the basis of DN-5 of the Odessa railway), which will take care of the work of port railway stations. Even the creation of a separate company for the provision of shunting traction services throughout Ukraine (on the basis of the MPPZT and the shunting locomotive fleet of UZ) is being considered,” said Valery Tkachev, Deputy Director of the Department of Commercial Work of UZ.

He added that there are many other ideas, but all of them need to be well calculated, agreed with the board, and most importantly defended before the Supervisory Board of UZ, because we are talking about changing the organizational structure of the company. “Currently, work in this direction continues,” said Valery Tkachev.

Recall that 100% of the shares of PJSC “Kyiv-Dneprovskoye MPPZT” belongs to the state represented by the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine.

MPPZT provides transport services for the transportation of goods from railway stations adjacent to the fronts of unloading and loading, shunting, loading and unloading, construction and modernization of track facilities, metrological services and other services related to the transportation of goods by rail. It ranks second after Ukrzaliznytsia in the industrial cargo transportation market segment with a 10% share.
