Currently, the fleet of the Ukrainian railway carrier includes 1 532 locomotives, both diesel and electric. There are about 300 locomotives in reserve, which should provide a potential growth in demand for transport, reports Railway Supply magazine with citing UZ.

Currently, 1 532 locomotives are in operation, including 749 electric locomotives and 783 diesel locomotives. There are 222 electric locomotives in reserve, including 109 freight and 113 passenger. In addition, there are 223 diesel locomotives in reserve, 66 of which are diesel locomotives designed to handle freight trains, 7 are for passenger traffic and 150 are shunting locomotives.
In the first quarter of 2021, Ukrzaliznytsya carried out almost 1 300 current repairs in the maintenance shops to which the locomotive is attached. These are, for example, the repair of diesel locomotives of the VL8, DE1, VL11M6 series, as well as the repair of diesel locomotives 2TE116.
