This carriage is included in the train operating on one of the longest and most popular routes.

The children’s carriage is adapted for safe and comfortable travel with children of all ages, but it is especially appealing to passengers under the age of 8.

Tickets for this specialized carriage can only be purchased through the Ukrzaliznytsia mobile app, where it is marked with a special label.

Upon boarding the children’s carriage, young travelers will receive unique bracelets indicating their compartment number and parents’ contact information. This measure enhances safety and makes it easier to navigate the train.

The carriage is equipped with numerous elements that make the journey interesting and engaging for children.

In the corridors, there are interactive posters, busy boards with moving parts, and soft handrails that ensure safe movement for the little passengers.

Each compartment is easily recognizable by characters from the “Sparks of Superpower” – puppet theater heroes created by UNICEF.

Inside the compartments, children will find educational and entertaining materials, board games, and playpens for toddlers.

The upper berths are equipped with extended guards with shockproof pads, reducing the risk of injury.

For the convenience of parents and children, the restroom facilities are equipped with additional hygiene products, changing tables, and special toilet seat inserts for children, making the trip comfortable even for the youngest passengers.

The interior design of the carriage uses materials from the “NUMO” educational platform, developed by UNICEF in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

The entire process of designing, overhauling, and modernizing the carriage took six months and was carried out at Ukrzaliznytsia’s facilities.

The carriage was fully re-equipped, including air conditioning, heating systems, and mobile ramps, ensuring accessibility for all passengers.

The project was made possible thanks to the financial support of the Belgian government and close cooperation with UNICEF Ukraine.

In the future, Ukrzaliznytsia plans to expand this initiative and release seven more such carriages in 2024.
