Ukraine and Austria will develop intermodal rail transportation

The respective memorandum has been signed by the Ukrainian company “Ukrzaliznytsia” and the Austrian railway company Rail Cargo Austria, as reported by the railway portal Railway Supply.
The project is expected to start later this year, with a test transport of semi-trailers on the route from Kiev to Budapest already planned for September.

“We are continuing to develop intermodal services and integrate the Ukrainian railway into the European space. With this memorandum, we are initiating the implementation of intermodal transportation projects between our countries. Currently, we are assessing the possibility of establishing regular rail connections of this type between Kiev and Vienna, considering routes through Lviv and Budapest to connect as many major cities as possible,” said Vyacheslav Yeryomin, a member of the Ukrzaliznytsia board.
