Uber plans to expand its platform to the railway market
12.04.2024
Eight out of 10 of Uber’s most popular travel destinations in the UK are railway stations, and the company aims to leverage its globally recognized platform for ride-sharing, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
Uber intends to encourage the use of more environmentally friendly modes of transportation than private cars.
Uber bears ‘a great responsibility for mitigating environmental impact.’
In 2020, the company set ‘ambitious’ goals: to become a zero-emission mobility platform in Europe, Canada, and the US by 2030, with further geographic expansion by 2040.
The company states that ‘to unlock greener transportation, it makes sense to make several forms of shared transportation as accessible and simple as possible.’
Uber aims to reduce the need for personal vehicles by simplifying travelers’ ability to combine modes of transportation through its platform, now available in 10,000 cities in 71 countries.
