The Chicago–St. Louis High-Speed Corridor already has the capability to host 110 mph operations, reducing travel time and enhancing the dependability of service on one of the most traveled state-supported rail corridors. These improvements are supporting the increased passenger numbers and minimising delays.
Nineteen miles of double track between Glenwood and Niles in Southwest Michigan are being replaced, with the project expected to be complete in 2026. This work would increase reliability on the Wolverine and Blue Water corridors and result in a better driving experience for passengers.
Minnesota, meanwhile, is moving forward with the Northern Lights Express, a 152-mile corridor tying together Minneapolis–St. Paul to Duluth. It’s state and federally funded and aims for 110 mph speeds, boosting efficiency and regional connections.
