Tyne and Wear Metro staff are actively assisting passengers in becoming familiar with the new features on their modernized trains. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

As part of a fresh campaign, members of the Nexus project team have taken center stage in a series of engaging short videos shared on social media platforms.

The campaign aims to educate customers about the advanced Stadler trains, which offer a significant departure from the current fleet. By featuring workers in pivotal roles, the campaign ensures authenticity while showcasing the various technological upgrades.
Viewers receive detailed guidance through the carriages, highlighting features that directly benefit passengers.
Key Upgrades on Tyne and Wear Metro Trains
Among the upgrades are new safety systems, a linear seating arrangement, USB charging stations, climate control, and CCTV cameras. These improvements have been designed to enhance both convenience and security for all riders.
Additionally, the trains incorporate automatic sliding steps, digital display screens, handrails, grab poles, and updated door systems, all of which have been explained in the videos.
Enhanced Passenger Experience with Tyne and Wear Metro
The campaign also highlights aesthetic and functional features such as colorful lighting around the doors, regional artwork, an updated public address system, emergency alarms, a customer intercom, and revamped priority seating.
These additions further demonstrate Tyne and Wear Metro’s commitment to improving the overall passenger experience.
Michael Richardson, Head of Fleet and Depot Replacement at Nexus, shared his excitement: “This video series is an excellent way for our customers to become more familiar with the new Metro trains, as we continue to make progress in their introduction to service.”
He emphasized the transformative impact of the new fleet, noting improvements in comfort, quality, and reliability.
Richardson also pointed out that these bite-sized videos, featuring insights from the project team, will be shared across social media platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube.
He encouraged customers to engage with the content, saying, “We hope our customers enjoy the reels and look forward to seeing their reactions.”
