An agreement has been announced between logistics group Arkas Logistics, Duisburger Hafen (Duisport), and Hupac for the development of a railway service between the Halkalı terminals (European part of Istanbul) and Duisburg, according to the railway portal Railway Supply, citing Railway Gazette.
Arkas Logistics will develop a regular railway container service to Europe using its own container fleet.
Camco Technologies and ÖBB-Infrastruktur sign an agreement for the installation of railway OCR portals.
A reduction in container delivery time to recipients in Germany (Ruhr region), Belgium, and the Netherlands is forecasted to be 7-9 days.
Arkas actively invests in the development of rail transport and has established Arkas Rail, which operates transportation from the Arkas hub to Duisport in Kartepe.
Next year, the launch of Railport is planned, which will also serve as the western endpoint of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway.
Arkas Rail has already announced an investment of 38.5 million euros for the acquisition of five European standard locomotives from Stadler Rail and the expansion of the railway fitting platform fleet to 800 units.
