Turkey Deploys Massive Fleet Assets as Locally Built High-speed train Shatters Testing Records

Türkiye’s first high-speed train, manufactured domestically, has reached 240 km/h during ongoing testing. Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced the result.

Türkiye Raylı Sistem Araçları AŞ, known as TÜRASAŞ, is developing the train. The company is a state-owned railway rolling stock manufacturer. Before the train can enter service, testing will verify all performance, safety, and comfort criteria.
Earlier, the train reached 225 km/h during dynamic braking trials. These trials are a critical stage of the verification programme. Uraloğlu said the train later reached 240 km/h as testing continued.
Testing of Türkiye’s first high-speed train continues
The programme will examine speed, braking capability, running performance, dynamic behaviour, and compatibility with railway infrastructure.
Uraloğlu described the progress:
“We have completed the production of Türkiye’s first high-speed train using local and national resources, and on the second day of dynamic braking tests, it successfully reached a speed of 225 km/h. The testing process continues successfully, and the National High-Speed Electric Train has reached 240 km/h,”
The trials will continue until the train reaches maximum speed. Also, testing will continue until all safety and comfort criteria are fully met.
Uraloğlu stated:
“We will continue testing until our trains reach maximum speed and fully meet all safety and comfort criteria,”
Eight aluminum-bodied cars provide capacity for 577 passengers
The National High-Speed Electric Train consists of eight aluminum-bodied cars and has capacity for 577 passengers.
Onboard equipment includes an automatic train stop system, electromechanical passenger doors, and fully automatic air conditioning. In addition, it includes a fire detection system, surveillance cameras, and audio and visual passenger information systems.
Two of the train’s most important systems were designed and manufactured locally in cooperation with ASELSAN. They are the train control and management system and the traction system. ASELSAN specializes in electronic systems and technologies for defense and critical infrastructure.
Passenger amenities and accessibility features
Food and beverage vending machines are installed on board. Also, kitchen-style areas are intended to meet passengers’ needs during journeys.
The train also includes two compartments for passengers with reduced mobility. Elevators allow wheelchair users to board and disembark between the platform and the vehicle.
Uraloğlu said:
