Hitachi Rail has unveiled hybrid trains with traction batteries

Two VIP-class carriages have entered service as part of a passenger train traveling on a route of approximately 200 km between the country’s capital, Bishkek, and the city of Balykchy, situated on the northern shore of Lake Issyk-Kul.

The first carriage was introduced by the national carrier “Kyrgyz Temir Zholu” (KTZ) in June of last year, while the second one was presented in the summer of this year. They were manufactured at KTZ’s carriage repair plant in Bishkek through the complete dismantling of outdated carriages followed by comprehensive restorative repairs.
