Trenitalia officially ends its c2c era on Sunday, July 20, after eight years of investment, innovation, and high performance, as ownership shifts to public hands. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Trenitalia Strategic Repositioning in UK Rail

Trenitalia frames the transfer of c2c as a strategic pivot rather than an exit. The company plans to stay active in UK rail modernization through Great British Railways initiatives. It also aims to collaborate with local SMEs, universities, and innovation centres to bolster sector resilience and knowledge sharing.

Trenitalia reinforced its UK commitment by filing for open-access high-speed services between London and Paris, underlining its international connectivity ambitions. Managing Director Ernesto Sicilia emphasised a focus on continuous improvement, community connection, and industry integration. He confirmed Trenitalia will continue operating Avanti West Coast until its public transfer in 2026, while promoting innovation and collaboration.
