The tram line project aims to reduce traffic on major roads and strengthen the link between the city center and key sports venues.

The total cost is estimated at approximately $907 million, with up to 65% funded by French state funds and the European Investment Bank.

Support and Implementation of the Tram Lines Project

The initiative is backed by local authorities, the Tangier–Tetouan–Al Hoceima regional administration, the Northern Regions Development Agency, and the Ministry of Transport and Logistics. Alstom Transport Morocco, a company with extensive experience in urban rail systems, will oversee the project implementation.

Construction of the tram lines in Tangier is set to begin soon, with completion targeted before the 2030 FIFA World Cup. This development will not only ease urban transport but also support the city’s sustainable growth and enhance residents’ quality of life.
