04.06.2025
Tram deliveries from Turkish manufacturer Bozankaya have started in Belgrade, with the first of 25 units already delivered and scheduled to enter service this June. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The city authorities presented the 30.5-meter-long tram, designed to carry 118 passengers at speeds up to 70 km/h. It includes 48 seats for comfortable travel.

Belgrade Mayor Aleksandar Šapić confirmed that the last tram of the batch will arrive by the end of the year. He also announced plans to purchase an additional 100 units to upgrade the city’s fleet.
Bozankaya ensures precise tram deliveries according to contract terms
The $73.5 million contract, signed in July 2024, calls for the full delivery of all trams by August 2025. The first unit arrived exactly within the agreed 12-month timeframe.
The remaining trams will be delivered gradually, allowing seamless integration of the new fleet into Belgrade’s public transport system.
Tram deliveries spark controversy over bidding exclusions
Local media reported that bids from Stadler, PESA, and the Serbian branch of Siemens Mobility were excluded from the tender. This exclusion triggered public criticism and accusations of potential corruption.
Some organizations pointed out that Bozankaya supplies similar trams to the Romanian city of Timișoara at a lower price. This comparison fueled debate about the fairness of the Belgrade deal.
Nevertheless, city officials emphasize the project’s importance. They believe the fleet renewal will improve comfort and reliability across Belgrade’s transit network.
