Train passengers face major delays after derailment
28.06.2025
Train passengers are urged to check their travel plans before departure as a derailment on the West Coast Main Line continues to cause major disruptions and delays across the network. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

A low-speed derailment involving a non-passenger train occurred on June 26 between Watford Junction and Milton Keynes, prompting cancellations and reduced service to and from London Euston.

Avanti West Coast reported several incidents linked to the derailment that heavily affected journeys between London and Scotland. Trains that are still running remain extremely crowded.
Train passengers with tickets dated June 26 may use them for travel until the end of June 27, provided they follow the same route on any Avanti West Coast service.
Those who chose not to travel due to delays or cancellations can receive a full refund without any service fees from the place of purchase.
If a traveler continued their journey but was delayed by 15 minutes or more, they are entitled to Delay Repay compensation from the train company they originally booked with.
Train passengers eligible for refunds and compensation
Avanti West Coast has advised train passengers to monitor real-time updates on its website and social media platforms. Travelers are also encouraged to allow extra time and consider alternative options.
Engineering teams are actively working to clear the affected track section and inspect for possible damage. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.
Train passengers advised to plan ahead due to service impact
Rail operators expect further congestion as the weekend approaches. Ongoing timetable changes may affect other intercity connections, especially along the West Coast Main Line.
Because the disruption may continue into the evening, passengers should verify their train status before arriving at the station to avoid extended delays or missed connections.
