After the collision with a freight train, the passengers are relieved to have made it to their destination in Zimbabwe. The incident occurred last Friday when the luxury Rovos Rail train derailed near Gwanda, causing injuries to several people on board.

Despite the ordeal, the tourists remain positive, eager to experience the wonders of Victoria Falls.

The authorities in Zimbabwe, along with the local rail employees, provided swift assistance to the tourists. One tourist from the United Kingdom expressed gratitude, stating, “Accidents happen everywhere, but we are happy to be here and thank everyone for the support. I look forward to enjoying Victoria Falls.”

The Rovos Rail Train Accident in Zimbabwe

The Rovos Rail train was on its way from Pretoria to Victoria Falls when it collided with a freight train operated by Beitbridge Bulawayo Railway. The collision caused the train to derail, injuring four crew members and several tourists. Photos from the scene show rescue teams assisting passengers, some of whom were carried through the wreckage to safety.

At the time of the accident, the train had at least 47 tourists aboard. The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation by the authorities. Rovos Rail, founded in 1989, is known for providing luxurious train safaris across Africa, including the popular route to Victoria Falls.

Despite the crash, the tourists are now focused on enjoying their time in Zimbabwe. They are eager to explore the natural wonders of the country and are grateful for the quick response of the local authorities.
