Amrit Bharat Express offers affordable travel options comparable to premium trains while ensuring comfort and safety for passengers from lower and middle-income groups across India. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
With four new trains launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 18, Bihar now leads with the highest number of originating stations. The state operates five key routes, including Darbhanga–Anand Vihar, Saharsa–Mumbai, and Patna–New Delhi.

These routes provide vital connectivity. Notably, the Darbhanga–Anand Vihar route started in 2023, while Saharsa–Mumbai service began on April 24, 2025. This rapid expansion underscores Bihar’s growing role in rail travel.

West Bengal ranks second with two major routes under the Eastern Railway zone: Malda Town to SMVT Bengaluru and another long-haul service. These routes demonstrate Indian Railways’ efforts to connect distant regions efficiently.
Amrit Bharat Express Features
The Amrit Bharat Express incorporates modern amenities for comfort and safety. Features include modular toilets, redesigned berths, semi-automatic couplers, gangways, and continuous lighting. Amrit Bharat Express Speed and Expansion
Designed by the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai, these trains run at a maximum speed of 130 km/h. To meet demand, the Ministry of Railways targets production of 100 additional rakes, ensuring affordable connectivity for millions.
As expansion accelerates, Bihar leads in originating stations, while West Bengal and other states strengthen India’s rail network. The project highlights the government’s commitment to offering budget-friendly, high-quality transportation nationwide.
