Production at Uttarpara is already underway, and the first prototype is expected next calendar year. Moreover, the plant’s advanced Industry 4.0 robotics enhance manufacturing efficiency.

Expanding Capacity to Meet Growing Demand for Vande Bharat Sleeper Train

The Uttarpara facility, currently producing 300 coaches annually, plans to scale up to 850 coaches. This expansion will ensure a steady supply of Vande Bharat and other modern coaches across India.

The plant remains the only site capable of manufacturing both stainless steel and aluminum coaches under one roof, boosting operational flexibility and output.

By investing in innovation and production, TRSL and BHEL aim to redefine India’s future in rail transportation and strengthen the national infrastructure.
