The World Bank estimated the damage to Ukraine’s infrastructure from the war at $60 billion

The World Bank Group has completed a preliminary assessment of the physical damage to Ukraine’s buildings and infrastructure caused by Russia’s military aggression and estimated it at about $60 billion.

This was announced by the president of the bank, David Malpass, reports the railway magazine Railway Supply.
“This is a “narrow” cost that does not take into account the growth of economic costs for the Ukrainian economy. Of course, the war is still going on, so these costs are rising,” he said at a ministerial round table in support of Ukraine as part of the World Bank-IMF Spring Meetings 2022.
According to the official, within six to eight months after the establishment of peace, it is urgent to deal with the restoration of basic infrastructure, in particular transport, electricity, heating and digital technologies, and then in the medium term, strengthening macro-fiscal potential; rebuilding cities and buildings; and strengthening the agricultural and business sectors.
As previously reported, the war destroyed up to 30% of Ukraine’s infrastructure.
