The first unmanned metro train manufactured by CRRC Nanjing Puzhen has been delivered to Bangalore, marking the beginning of a new era in India’s public transportation, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
Before being put into operation, the train will undergo a series of tests, including network trials, to ensure its safety and efficiency.
“Kaztemirtrans” plans to purchase nearly 3 thousand freight cars
This train represents the first fleet designed for Bangalore Metro’s Yellow Line, which is set to become operational in the summer of 2024.
The collaboration between CRRC Nanjing Puzhen and the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), initiated in 2019, has led to the delivery of 216 new carriages totaling 15.78 billion rupees.
It’s important to note that under the contract terms, the rolling stock was supposed to be manufactured in India. However, due to the lack of CRRC production facilities in the country, the company outsourced the carriage production to the Indian company Titagarh Rail Systems.
This strategic partnership ensured timely delivery of the trains despite constraints.
It is planned that two six-car trains will be delivered from the Titagarh plant to Bangalore per month, starting from June of this year.
The trains will serve three Bangalore metro lines, significantly improving accessibility and comfort for city residents.
This move opens up new prospects for public transportation development in India and underscores the importance of international cooperation in this field.
The country is entering a new era of technological innovation and modern transportation, which will contribute to improving the quality of life for millions of urban residents.
