The construction tender for the 30-kilometer Blue Line metro in Dubai has been launched, with an estimated cost of 18 billion dirhams ($4.9 billion), this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The project includes the supply of 28 automated trains, their maintenance, and operation for three years.

Maersk will use rail transport

Six consortia, including industry giants such as Siemens, Hyundai Rotem, and Alstom, have qualified to participate in the competition.

The tender winner will be responsible for all aspects of the project, including construction, design, supply of automated trains, and technical maintenance.

Additionally, plans include the construction of a depot for 60 trains and associated infrastructure.

The winner is expected to be announced in 2024, with work commencing in 2025.

Trial operation of the line is scheduled for 2028, with full passenger service expected in 2029.

This ambitious project underscores Dubai’s commitment to modern and efficient public transportation systems.
