- 4-axle configuration with a load of 23 tons per axle.
- Power distribution: 100 kW for internal needs, and 780 kW directly for traction.
- Type of electrical transmission: variable-frequency AC (traction generator – synchronous AC, traction motors – asynchronous with a short-circuited rotor (4 pcs)).
- Auxiliary machine drive: AC electric motors.
- Traction gearbox ratio: 4.41.
- The control system of the MT-41 locomotive operates in a dual-unit mode (paired mode).

The operation of the MT-41 locomotive is as follows:
- Until the first technical service – 1000 loc/hour.
- Until the first engine overhaul – 50,000 loc/hour.
The periodicity of technical maintenance for the MT-41 locomotive is 1000 loc/hour.
The manufacturing and delivery time for one locomotive is 9-12 months. The warranty for the MT-41 is 24 months from the date of signing the commissioning certificate.
