The Purchase of Elf 3 Electric Trains Will Modernize Transport in Opole Province

The purchase of Elf 3 electric trains marks a significant step in enhancing regional transport. Authorities in Opole Province and PESA Bydgoszcz signed the agreement on December 31, 2024. This was reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

This contract secures up to 20 Elf 3 trains, which include two four-car and three three-car units in the main order. An optional addition of 15 more trains is also available. The total cost exceeds PLN 797 million (€186 million), with partial funding provided by the European Union.

Elf 3 electric trains can reach speeds of up to 160 km/h, reducing travel times significantly. The first delivery, consisting of two four-car units, will occur within 40 months of the contract signing. Full completion of the main order will follow within 48 months.
