The Nigerian Railway Corporation Plans Major Investments in 2025

The Federal Government has allocated ₦39.18 billion to the Nigerian Railway Corporation in 2025. Of this amount, ₦2.79 billion will go toward railway rehabilitation and repairs to improve service reliability.

Additionally, the NRC will allocate ₦2.7 billion for rehabilitating and repairing office buildings across the country. This infrastructure upgrade aims to create better operational efficiency for the rail sector.

How The Nigerian Railway Corporation Will Utilize Its Budget?

The corporation has set aside ₦2 billion to procure diesel for its locomotives and power cars. Another ₦1 billion will cover spare parts, including essential lubricants for locomotives, coaches, and wagons.

A further ₦1.68 billion has been budgeted for acquiring and rehabilitating rolling stock and locomotives. These efforts are part of ongoing projects focused on modernizing the nation’s railway infrastructure.

The NRC will also spend ₦1.19 billion on rehabilitating the narrow-gauge track from Minna to Baro. This project includes extending the railway line to the Baro River Port, improving trade and connectivity.

By prioritizing these investments, the NRC aims to modernize Nigeria’s railway system and enhance nationwide transportation efficiency. Strategic resource allocation ensures progress toward improved rail infrastructure and services.
