The multi-system electric locomotive GRIFFIN, manufactured by NEWAG S.A. for PKP INTERCITY, set a new speed record, this is reported by the railway transport news portal, Railway Supply.
It reached a speed of 240 km/h during the night of October 19-20, 2023.

As part of the contract signed with PKP Intercity in 2021, 15 units of the new multi-system electric locomotives, GRIFFIN E4MSUa, with a total cost of 387 million zlotys, will be delivered.
Deliveries will begin in the next year once the necessary documents are obtained.
Following that, the homologation process will commence in five countries: Germany, Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic, and Slovakia.
Zbigniew Koneczek, the Chairman of the Board of NEWAG S.A., emphasized the importance of this achievement and the commitment to setting new standards in the railway industry.
