The Indian company BEML has unveiled the coaches of the first Vande Bharat electric train with sleeper compartments

The presentation took place at the Bangalore plant with the participation of Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
According to the minister’s statement, trial operations of the first trains will begin in the third quarter of this year.
These coaches feature the use of austenitic stainless steel, providing high strength and durability.

The cost of one sleeper coach is estimated at 8-9 million Indian rupees (approximately $1 million), attributed to the use of high-quality components such as drives, brake systems, and air conditioners manufactured by BEML itself.
Each electric train will accommodate 823 passengers and will consist of 1 first-class coach, 4 second-class coaches, and 11 sleeper coaches.
The plan is to produce 10 sleeper trains, totaling 160 coaches on the entire BEML platform.
