The initial segment of Lima’s Metro Line 2 offers free rides during a three-month trial period, with over 530,000 passengers recorded in the first month, reaching a peak of 26,401 on January 18, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The first and last stations were most popular, each accommodating approximately 150,000 passengers in the first month, while Óvalo Santa Anita emerged as the busiest intermediate station with 98,464 users.

The new route takes seven minutes from start to finish, significantly reducing travel time from the usual 35 minutes by regular public transport.

This marks the initial phase (1A) of the planned 27-kilometer Metro Line 2, set to encompass 27 stations across Peru’s capital, expected to be completed later this year.
