As part of preparations for the visit of French President Emmanuel Macron, the ministry team held a meeting with France’s Special Representative for Assistance and Reconstruction in Ukraine, Pierre Elbroun. The focus of the discussion was on the current status of joint projects.
“We are expanding cooperation with France on Ukraine’s reconstruction issues. The priority is the development of the transportation industry and the modernization of critical infrastructure facilities,” emphasized Minister Alexander Kubrakov.
The message notes that at the end of December 2023, a credit agreement was signed for nearly 37 million euros.
The funds are allocated for the supply of rails to Ukrzaliznytsia from a French company.
Within a year, 19 thousand tons of rails will be delivered, which will allow for the repair of approximately 150 kilometers of track. The first thousand tons will be delivered in the first quarter of 2024.
As reported earlier, the government has allowed Ukrzaliznytsia to pay for French rails with money from freight transportation.
