Since January 2025, the first 45-meter low-floor Flexity tram has been running in Gothenburg successfully. Manufactured at Alstom’s Bautzen factory in Germany, these trams feature modern technology.

Public transport operator Västtrafik initially ordered 40 trams in 2021, expanding the order in 2022. The additional 20 trams brought the total cost of the contract to €120 million.
Delivery and Features of the First 45-Meter Low-Floor Flexity Tram
To date, Västtrafik has received four of the 60 45-meter low-floor Flexity trams. The first tram arrived in August 2024, while the rest will be delivered by 2026.
Each five-section tram accommodates up to 319 passengers and includes areas for wheelchairs and strollers. These trams were designed to meet accessibility standards for all travelers.
Importance of Flexity Trams in Gothenburg
Alstom previously delivered 40 M33 series trams, which are 33 meters long, to Gothenburg. The first 45-meter low-floor Flexity tram offers improved capacity and comfort for the growing population.
