By 2026, the construction of the high-speed railway between Belgrade and Budapest will be completed. The project will provide faster and more comfortable travel between the two European capitals. This was reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Route Length and Train Speed
The new railway line will stretch 350 kilometers, with trains reaching a maximum speed of 200 km/h. Travel time between Belgrade and Budapest will be reduced to two hours and forty minutes.

Nine modern trains, developed by CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles, will operate on this route. The first train arrived in Serbia in May 2024, initiating the technical testing phase.
Infrastructure Development Within the Project
Each four-car train will accommodate 242 passengers, including 45 first-class seats. The high-speed trains will ensure a comfortable journey, maintaining an operating speed of 200 km/h.
Trains will operate on Serbian railways under the brand name Coko (“Sokol”), offering passengers a new level of convenience. The last train is expected to arrive in the country by the end of 2025.
