The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has ratified the agreement on the purchase of French rails for UZ

The framework agreement provides for financing the rail procurement through a preferential loan from the French government amounting to 37.6 million euros. This will partially meet UZ’s rail needs for 2023, amounting to 18.9 thousand tons (approximately 145 km of rails), according to the railway portal Railway Supply, citing censor.

The terms of the framework agreement include 100% financing of the purchase, with UZ repaying the loan over a period of 35 years, including a 14-year grace period, at an annual interest rate of 0.0161%.

The ratification of the agreement will enable the continuation of efforts to attract funds from the French government on favorable terms for the procurement of railway rails to meet UZ’s needs, which have been caused by military aggression from Russia.
