Uzbekistan is conducting a major tender for high-speed train procurement, as reported by local media. The state-owned company “Uzbekistan Railways” announced its plans, confirmed by “Uzjeldorpas” department head Fazil Sharipov. Previously, from 2011 to 2021, six high-speed Afrosiyob trains were purchased for Uzbekistan’s railway network. These trains are a modified version of Spanish Talgo 250, capable of reaching speeds of 250 km/h. In June this year, “Uzbekistan Railways” signed an agreement with Hyundai Rotem to supply new trains.
