Temporary Reductions in Train Services Between Murcia and Madrid
03.01.2025
Ouigo has announced temporary reductions in train services between Murcia and Madrid, citing operational challenges. These changes affect weekday schedules, leaving travelers with fewer options until February 26. This was reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Ouigo Adjusts Train Services Due to Operational Issues
Ouigo has adjusted train services on the Madrid-Murcia route, affecting weekday availability. From January 8 to February 26, only one train will operate on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays instead of two.

Morning departures at 8:15 a.m. from Madrid and the 12:39 p.m. return trip from Murcia are canceled. Travelers impacted by the changes have been notified and offered alternative arrangements or full refunds.
Alternative Options for Train Services to Murcia and Madrid
Despite these adjustments, Ouigo will maintain evening departures at 8:39 p.m. from Murcia and 4:15 p.m. from Madrid. The company emphasizes that full schedules will resume on February 27.
Other providers, including Renfe and its low-cost service Avlo, continue to offer high-speed train services between the two cities. Renfe operates four daily connections, ensuring travelers have alternatives.
Ouigo’s Commitment to Affordable Travel
Ouigo entered the Murcia market last September, offering budget-friendly, high-speed travel. The journey connects Madrid with Murcia in under three hours, making brief stops in Elche and Albacete.
Promotional efforts, such as €1 ticket deals, boosted ridership. However, operational constraints have necessitated these temporary reductions in service until the end of February.
Support for Passengers Affected by Service Changes
Ouigo promises flexibility for passengers affected by schedule adjustments. Customers can modify bookings free of charge or request refunds if new schedules are inconvenient.
The company encourages travelers to monitor updates, check schedules, and contact customer service with concerns. Ouigo remains dedicated to providing reliable, affordable travel options.
Long-Term Plans for Expanded Services
Ouigo stresses that these reductions in train services are temporary. Full operations will resume after February 26, with continued focus on affordability and customer satisfaction.
Competing operators ensure ongoing accessibility for travelers. With strong demand for high-speed routes, Ouigo expects growth opportunities to emerge after schedules return to normal.
