Taiwan High Speed Rail Seeks Calm Traveler Experience

Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR) remains to adhere to the quiet carriage policy, reiterating that the move is aimed at adult behavior and not children. The move, launched on September 22, is set to construct a quieter environment during travels.

Officials explained that the policy is not specific to families but centers on the adult-controlled noisemaker, such as phone use, un-muted video watching, or loud gassing. And because the staff depends on communication and signage rather than penalties, the policy is still inclusive and respectful.

As per THSR statistics, 49% of the unacceptably loud sounds derive from phone use, 24% from un-muted bricks, and 27% from loud discussions. Little of the outcry attributed to children’s tears.

Taiwan High Speed Rail Fosters Respect and Understanding

The issue was tackled by Ministry of Transportation and Communications Secretary-General Shen Hui-hung on Facebook, that the policy discriminates against families. She clarified that taking children along is always inconvenient, so the policy targets the behavior that adults can easily supervise.

THSR opines that the quiet carriage rule aligns with the growing needs of passengers to be in aconsiderate and productive environment during journey. Most commute passengers and business travelers had long complained about noisy carriages, thus this step enables comfort and cynicism to balance.

Due to ongoing debate, THSR continues to gather passenger input and refine the implementation strategy. The company hopes to encourage education among passengers and demonstrate that mutual respect makes everybody’s ride better.
