The first project targets a 10-kilometer section between Nezamyslice and Kojetín along the Brno–Přerov corridor. STRABAG Rail is heading a consortium to double-track the line and raise travel speeds.

Construction began in late May and is expected to last until January 2029. These improvements aim to reduce travel times and increase passenger capacity.

A key element is a 744-meter twin-track tunnel near Němčice built using open-cut methods. In Hruška, a new junction will enhance traffic flow and operational flexibility.

Měrovice nad Hanou and Němčice nad Hanou stations will be upgraded to modern, accessible standards. The Němčice stop will move west and feature a new bus terminal and parking for cars and bicycles.

The project also includes 2,300 meters of noise barriers and several new reinforced concrete and composite bridges. Trains will be monitored by ETCS and GSM-R systems for improved safety.

STRABAG Rail Transforms Česká Třebová Junction

The second project involves modernizing the busy Česká Třebová rail junction. STRABAG Rail, again working within a consortium, will upgrade 72 kilometers of track and 30 bridge structures.

Both passenger and freight lines will be rebuilt. Platforms will become fully barrier-free and feature new canopies. A steel pedestrian bridge will replace an outdated underpass, linking both parts of town.

Preparatory works are planned for 2025. This includes installing temporary signals, constructing a new Potok junction, and laying initial network sections.

Work has already started on a new connecting line in Třebovice. Major upgrades to the station will begin in 2028, with full completion scheduled for early 2032.

STRABAG Rail Pushes Forward EU-Funded Infrastructure Goals

These projects position STRABAG Rail as a leader in Central Europe’s railway transformation. With enhanced capacity, better safety, and reduced travel times, the upgrades support cross-border mobility and EU infrastructure strategy.
