Due to the presence of Western components, China has postponed the delivery of 15 single-section alternating current electric locomotives of the BKG2 series to Belarus, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The main problem was not the financial aspect but the threat of Western sanctions. The BKG2 model, developed based on the HXD2 series in collaboration with France, uses components from Europe and the USA.

Among such components are power transformers, traction electric motors and converters, as well as control, diagnostics, and monitoring systems.

In January 2024, a Belarusian Railway delegation visited the CRRC factory. In March, the manufacturer announced the need to revise the timelines for localizing components.

Thus, the renewal of the Belarusian Railway’s rolling stock is now planned for 2025-2026 with the acquisition of BKG2 single-section freight electric locomotives.
