Special Katra–Delhi trains carried more than 1,600 passengers over the past two days, as Northern Railway’s Jammu Division added reserved services between Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and New Delhi to manage peak demand, as reported by The Economic Times (Infra).

How the special Katra–Delhi trains ran over two days?

Railway officials said the special train pair numbered 04082/04081 was brought in for the surge in demand. On Saturday, over 700 passengers travelled on the service; on Sunday, more than 900 did.

Officials added that the reserved special train offered devotees and other travellers a dependable option and helped reduce travel time for people visiting Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra.

Passenger response and operating remarks

Uchit Singhal, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu, said the turnout from passengers and the smooth running of the trains — without any major inconvenience — reflected efficient management and staff commitment.

Checking drive at Jammu Railway Station

Separately, Singhal said a special checking drive was held on Saturday at Jammu Railway Station by a Magistrate alongside ticket checking staff to support passenger convenience and ensure adherence to railway rules, a point also covered by Greater Kashmir.

During checks on trains on both the Up and Down lines, officials registered 50 cases involving ticketless travel, illegal vendors and littering. The Magistrate imposed a fine of Rs 25,000.
