South Korea Unveils First Hydrogen Tram Model at InnoTrans 2024

At InnoTrans 2024, the South Korean manufacturer presented its first hydrogen model, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The development project of this innovative technology cost the company 42.2 billion won, equivalent to approximately 31.1 million dollars.

This year, the first serial contract was signed for 34 units, which will be delivered to the city of Daejeon. The commissioning of the rolling stock is scheduled for late 2028.
The technical specifications of the new low-floor tram were previously presented by Hyundai Rotem in the form of an infographic.
Hydrogen fuel cells with a capacity of 90 kW each, installed in four blocks, will power its movement.
The range of the basic version of the model, with a height of 3.7 meters, exceeds 150 kilometers.
The version with an increased height of up to 4 meters extends the range to more than 200 kilometers.
Experts from NIAS, who attended the exhibition, noted that the tram is equipped with a set of sensors that provide partial support to the driver when operating the vehicle.
This development marks a significant step in environmentally friendly urban transport, emphasizing South Korea’s commitment to implementing innovations and reducing the carbon footprint in the transport sector.
