SNCF Voyageurs Strengthens Regional Mobility in France

SNCF Voyageurs would be responsible for operating the Alpine and East Provence lines under the 10-year agreement beginning December 2029. The contract spans Corridors between Toulon, Marseille, Briançon, and Actress-les-Bains.

Due to increasing demand, the deal adds 30% new services to the trains, according to regional modernization initiatives.

Région Sud President Renaud Muselier noted the contract aligns the region’s policy of open market and competition. This contract Enhances reliability and efficiency while promoting France’s shift towards greener transport.

And because the project aligns with significant investment projects in infrastructure such as the Ligne Nouvelle Provence-Côte d’Azur, it would, accordingly, boost long-distance connectivity too.

SNCF Voyageurs Invests in New Trains and Infrastructure

To provide better-quality services, SNCF Voyageurs Sud Alpes Méditerranée would utilize 25 new Regiolis trainsets costing €328 million ($357 million). Région Sud would spend €46 million ($50 million) to renovate the Marseille maintenance depot and construct a new depot in Briançon.

These projects shall build capacity and jobs and enhance rail maintenance capacity throughout the Alpine and Mediterranean corridors. Christophe Fanichet, SNCF Voyageurs CEO, observed the victory as evidence of his crew’s innovation and adaptability to the region’s demands.

And towards 2029, the company intends an orderly takeover ensuring the comfort of the passenger, reliability, and energy efficiency.
