The six-section, 60-meter-long tram can accommodate up to 368 passengers and is equipped with modern air conditioning and information systems, as well as features adapted for people with reduced mobility.
With a maximum speed of 80 km/h, it is one of the most advanced urban transport solutions.
The contract between RNV and Škoda Group was signed in June 2018, covering the delivery of 80 low-floor trams: 31 trams of 30 meters, 37 of 40 meters, and 12 of 60 meters.
The total contract value amounted to around €265 million. In September 2024, RNV expanded the order, confirming an option for 34 additional 30-meter-long trams.
The first trams are already in operation on the lines in Mannheim, Ludwigshafen, and Heidelberg under the Rhein-Neckar-Tram (RNT) brand. So far, Škoda Group has delivered 16 trams of 40 meters and nine 30-meter trams.
The delivery of all 114 trams is expected to be completed by the end of 2026, allowing the replacement of outdated rolling stock produced between 1960 and 2000.
The modernization of urban transport will significantly enhance comfort and efficiency in the region.
