Škoda Introduces New 52T Tram for Prague’s Urban Network

Škoda has unveiled the ForCity Plus Praha 52T tram, designed for Prague’s public transport system. The vehicle is currently undergoing tests in Plzeň and will soon begin city trials. This was reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Škoda’s Innovative Tram Features
This low-floor tram includes five sections and spans 32 meters in total length. The cabin accommodates 243 passengers, with 70 designated seats for increased comfort.

A top speed of 70 km/h ensures efficient and rapid urban transportation. The company collaborated with 230 suppliers, most of them based in the Czech Republic.
The production process involves 76% Czech and 12% German companies, ensuring exceptional quality. Once operational, the trams will be serviced and maintained at the Hloubětín depot.
Škoda’s Contract for New Trams in Prague
In 2023, Prague’s authorities secured an agreement to purchase 200 trams, including 40 under a firm order. The first batch is scheduled for delivery by the end of 2025.
Each tram costs CZK 82.5 million (€3.4 million), bringing the full contract value to CZK 16.602 billion (€690 million). Another 20 units will enter service before the end of 2026.
Further tram production is planned until 2035, ensuring long-term fleet modernization. The project will enhance public transport, providing a more comfortable passenger experience.
