Skoda Group: Trams for Bergamo

Skoda Group has launched the serial production of modern trams for Bergamo, enhancing urban transportation significantly. The first low-floor, five-section models are being assembled at the plant in Plzen. This was reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

These ForCity Classic trams are 32 meters long and can accommodate up to 239 passengers. Each model features three bogies, two of which are equipped with traction motors for enhanced performance. The trams are designed to reach a maximum speed of 70 kilometers per hour, meeting modern urban transport standards.

Skoda Group emphasizes passenger safety and comfort in its designs. These trams will include an innovative collision avoidance system to prevent accidents.

Additionally, the doors will be equipped with automatic retractable ramps for passengers with limited mobility. These features make public transport more accessible and safer for all.
The New Route: Trams for Bergamo and Villa d’Almè
In 2023, Skoda Group secured a contract to produce trams and construct the T2 line. This new route will connect Bergamo and Villa d’Almè, offering convenient and eco-friendly transport solutions. The project, valued at €176 million, includes the delivery of rolling stock and a three-year maintenance period.

The trams feature state-of-the-art technology that complies with European transportation standards. Skoda Group highlights that these models will be the first in its lineup with such advanced features. This project marks a significant step forward in the company’s and Europe’s transportation development.
Thus, the collaboration between Skoda Group and the Italian operator TEB is pivotal for creating modern transport infrastructure.
Implementing this project will boost regional development and improve public transportation quality. Bergamo will gain modern trams that meet all safety and comfort requirements.
