Škoda Group Unveils Unique Sleep in Motion Night Train Design for Maximum Passenger Comfort

Škoda Group has unveiled a new night train design called Sleep in Motion, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

This concept features an innovative interior for double-decker cars with locomotive traction, equipped with sleeping berths, and developed under the guidance of renowned Austrian designer Wilhelm Berbig.

The main idea behind the concept is to create comfortable conditions for passengers to rest during their journeys.

The Sleep in Motion project is distinguished by its unique layout approach.

The train cars are designed with individual capsules for each passenger, providing personal space and comfort.

According to the James Dyson Award portal, the length of each sleeping berth is two meters, meeting the standards for a comfortable sleep.

The new interior layout includes optimized geometry of the sleeping areas and an innovative corridor design with separate luggage storage zones.

These changes make the journey more convenient and practical. The layout will be showcased at the InnoTrans exhibition, where visitors can appreciate its unique features.

Additionally, Škoda Group is actively collaborating with the Finnish company VR Group.

The current contract includes the delivery of nine double-decker cars with locomotive traction and eight car transport wagons. The agreement also includes an option to purchase up to 30 additional cars of each type.

The first deliveries are expected to begin at the end of 2025. However, it is worth noting that Škoda had previously announced a different interior design for VR Group’s passenger cars, highlighting the company’s commitment to continuous improvement and updating of its products.
