Skoda Group manufactures tram assemblies for Germany

Skoda Group completes assembly of the first trams for three German cities: Frankfurt an der Oder, Cottbus, and Brandenburg an der Havel, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
The Czech manufacturer showcased the rolling stock assembled at its facility in Pilsen.
The delivery of the first tram for Frankfurt an der Oder is scheduled for April, for Cottbus – May. Assembly is also underway for Brandenburg an der Havel.

The three-section Skoda ForCity Plus trams measure 30 meters in length and are equipped with two end pivoting bogies and one non-pivoting central bogie.
The low-floor ratio reaches 70%, ensuring passenger convenience.
The body width will be 2.3 meters for Frankfurt an der Oder and Brandenburg an der Havel, and 2.4 meters for Cottbus.
The new trams are intended to replace the Czech Tatra KT4D trams produced in the 1980s.
Under the contract for 2021 and an option for 2022, 39 trams were ordered. Of these, 13 are for Frankfurt an der Oder, 22 for Cottbus, and 4 for Brandenburg an der Havel.
The possibility of exercising the option for an additional 8 trams is also being considered.
The total cost of the orders is around €110 million.
Subsidies for the purchase are provided by the federal state of Brandenburg.
Delivery of all trams is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
