CBTC to Enhance Tram Network in San Francisco

The project includes full technical support—from design to commissioning and future maintenance. WSP-PGH Wong will handle system integration, testing, and activation.

Officials in San Francisco expect the new technology to boost the tram system’s capacity by 20%. The upgraded network will span 144 kilometers and 33 stations, covering both underground and surface sections.

Radio-based control will improve safety, ensure more accurate scheduling, and reduce headways—an essential upgrade for busy routes across the city.
