The extension increased the line’s total length to 16 km with 10 stations. Each stop was equipped with modern infrastructure, supporting improved commuter access across the Seattle metropolitan area.

By 2026, construction is expected to complete the remaining segment of Line 2, including a connection to Seattle via the I-90 bridge. This will enable continuous service between eastern suburbs and the city center.

Seattle’s Transit System Expansion Plans

Seattle’s Link light rail network continues to grow. In August 2024, Line 1 was extended to 53 km and 23 stations. The network served over 30 million passengers that year.

By 2026, Line 1 will further expand south to Federal Way. These developments aim to improve regional mobility, reduce road traffic, and promote sustainable transportation throughout Seattle.
