Siemensbahn Cooperation Spells Postage Stamp Modernization and

Deutsche Bahn is in partnership with nine major firms to restore the Siemensbahn, a 4.5-kilometer stretch connecting Jungfernheide and Gartenfeld. They collectively look forward to reinstalling the line in 2029.

Obermeyer Group and Schüßler Plan take care of project planning, and Porr, Kemna Bau, and MCE of New Construction. Eiffage SEH Engineering, Eiffage STC, and Leonhard Weiss deal with structural restoration, and Sächsische Bau constructs rectifier substations and infrastructure.

It is the first application in eastern Germany of the “rail partnership model”. Its spirit is cooperative openness, and all the partners equally bear the responsibility for its design and execution. It minimizes risks due to its inclusion of planning and building, enhances the pace of execution, and quality controls in each phase of the undertaking.

Alexander Kaczmarek, Group Representative of DB, stated that the initiative reflects trust and innovation. He added that such a model of partnership will define the method of delivering future projects in the region’s railways.

Siemensbahn Resurrection Propels Berlin’s Green Future

The project assists in Berlin’s shift towards cleaner urban transport in the “i2030 – More Rail for Berlin and Brandenburg” program. State of Berlin is financing the planning phase, highlighting high-level public support for sustainable mobility.

Engineers will refurbish heritage bridges, build new bridges, and implement digital signaling and barrier-free station access. As part of the core of the design being energy efficiency, new rectifier substations will reduce emissions and running expenses.

When the Siemensbahn reopens, it will once again link Siemensstadt Square and the Ringbahn with trains, opening up more travel choices for passengers and regional growth. So it is not only revival, but it is a long term transport future investment in Berlin.
