The company will allocate €40 million to acquire six electric locomotives, expanding the technical capabilities of railway transport. The remaining €50 million will be used to upgrade Class 711 diesel trains and enhance long-distance passenger cars.

Under the project, €25 million will be invested in upgrading 20 high-speed train cars to improve passenger comfort. The remaining funds will enhance the technical characteristics of the rolling stock, ensuring greater safety.

Serbia Prepares for High-Speed Rail Line Launch

The financing conditions depend on the purchase schedule and maintenance timelines. Serbia Voz will take these factors into account while planning the modernization of its rolling stock.

The main goal of the project is to successfully launch the Belgrade–Budapest high-speed rail line, scheduled for 2026. A few days ago, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić officially confirmed the country’s commitment to this ambitious project.

Nine high-speed trains, developed by CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles, will operate on the new route. The launch will accelerate transportation between the capitals of Serbia and Hungary.
