Last year, Serbia signed a contract with China for the delivery of electric trains, opening a new chapter in the development of railway infrastructure, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

the development of railway infrastructure

Five four-car trains, capable of reaching speeds of up to 200 km/h, are already starting to arrive in the country.

DB Regio has modernized an electric train

It is expected that the trains will be put into operation in 2025 and will be used on the Belgrade – Budapest line, and then likely on the Belgrade – Subotica section.

Thus, they will become a key element in improving rail transportation in the region.

This is not Serbia’s first step towards modernizing its railway transport.

Earlier, the country acquired three double-decker Stadler KISS trains, which are already in successful operation.

Currently, a high-speed section from Belgrade to Subotica is under construction, which will be an important project in the development of local infrastructure.

Interestingly, each train in Serbia has been given its own name, and the Chinese train is known as “Soko” (Falcon).

This is an important step for Serbia in enhancing its railway network, which will not only increase the efficiency and speed of transportation but also contribute to the development of the economy and strengthening of international ties.
